Brain Science Foundation – First Meningioma Awareness Day
This conference will be the first to focus exclusively on the health issues experienced by patients of meningioma, the most common type of all primary brain and central nervous system (CNS) tumors.
More than 140 patients attended the first ever Meningioma Awareness Day at BWH to hear about the latest research, diagnosis, treatment and coping strategies. The conference, sponsored by the Brain Science Foundation and BWH, focused on health issues of patients with meningioma, a tumor that develops from the tissue covering the brain and spinal cord.
A team of clinicians and researchers led a series of scientific and medical presentations, and a panel of meningioma patients and caregivers shared their stories at the conclusion of the event. The audience was captivated as they listened to the personal stories of six courageous individuals, which was a wonderful opportunity for the patient voice to be heard by the many doctors and researchers in attendance.
