MRI-Guided Therapy Symposium::Focus on Cryotherapy
About the Meeting
MRI-guided therapy is one of the most exciting and high profile areas in medicine today. This single imaging modality can be used in diagnosis, tumor targeting, and therapy monitoring. Cryotherapy, a now accepted practice in interventional oncology, uses the effects of cold to kill tumors. The effect of cryotherapy is easily visualized with MRI. The MRI-Guided Therapy Symposium - Focus on Cryotherapy is a comprehensive program presenting practical aspects to assist you in developing an MRI-guided cryoablation program at your facility. The faculty members are international pioneers and authorities in their areas of expertise and will share their experience with you in how to develop and grow an ablation program. The speakers will provide a multi-disciplinary approach towards interventional oncologic therapies. Protocols, techniques, tips, expanded clinical applications and potential complications will be discussed over the two-day program. There will be a panel discussion that allow for ample opportunity for questions.
Target Audience
The CME activity should be of interest and benefit Interventional Radiologists, Surgeons, Oncologists, Nurses, and hospital and radiology administrators. Educational Objectives
Registrants should, at the completion of this symposium, be able to:
- Understand the basics of MRI-guided therapy.
- Understand the basic mechanisms of cryoablation.
- Discuss the indications and contraindications for tumor ablation.
- Describe the various organs and tumors for which ablation is appropriate.
- Discuss the complications and pitfalls in the performance of tumor ablation.
- Understand the operation of an ablation system.
- Understand the coding, billing, and reimbursement of ablation procedures.
Course Organization
The effort is being organized by the National Center for Image Guided Therapy (NCIGT) at Brigham and Women’s Hospital, a teaching affiliate of Harvard Medical School. The NCIGT is an NIH funded Biomedical Technology Resource Center (NIH/NCRR grant 1U41RR019703-01) that serves as a national resource for all aspects of research into medical procedures enhanced by imaging, with the common goal of providing more effective patient care.
The event is being hosted by Beijing Union Medical College Hospital and underwritten by XinAoMDT Technology Co., LTD a manufacturer of a solution for MRI-guided therapy.
