Improved targeting in minimally invasive image guided radio frequency ablation
Hypothesis
Patient outcomes will be improved if interventional radiologists can place accurately the RF electrode and thus achieve complete tumor RF ablation with less risk of removing healthy tissue located adjacent to the tumor.
Current procedure
Our approach
- Non-rigid and rigid registration techniques developed in the context of image guided neurosurgery (IGN);
- Basic technology is intensively validated for IGN – recently used for 11 prospective cases;
- Adapt and extend this technology for liver RFA.
