GE Signa EXCITE 3T MRI scanner
The MR imaging has been shown to be an excellent modality for Image-Guided procedures due to its exquisite soft-tissue contrast. Since image signal to noise ratio scales with field strength, the 3T scanner represents a six-fold improvement compared to the 0.5T scanner now used at Brigham and Women’s Hospital for Image-Guided procedures. Moreover, imaging that was previously in the domain of surgical planning (e.g., functional MRI and diffusion tensor imaging) may become an iterative part of the image guidance and increase safety and efficacy.
